The Archaeology of Reading team is committed to making all data generated in the process of our research as open and easy to access as possible. For this reason we have committed to a series of data releases across the lifetime of our project, making data easily downloadable as a zip file according to the BagIt format. Please consult our guide to the data release.
Data Release 1.0 (November 2015)
Data Release 2.0 (July 2016)
Data Release 3.0 (August 2016)
In order to successfully manage a large multi-team, multi-site research project, we have often had to adopt a “corporate” approach to methodology: working practices have been standardised and made explicit in a step-by-step handbook. This Transcriber’s Manual is the “bible” for the project, combining a guide to the researcher’s workflow, documentation of our XML schema, and a relation of the many decisions we have had to make along the way.
We have started to generate user documentation for the AoR viewer and its functionalities. This document provides a general explanation of the viewer’s functionalities. In due time new, more-detailed documentation on specific functionalities will be made available.
We have generated two documents in which the AOR1 corpus is numerically broken down and analysed.
For the first document (August 2016), click here [PDF].
For the second document (January 2017), click here [PFD].

The Archaeology of Reading is more than an exercise in resource-building. We will make available here original scholarly research on the history of reading that springs from the work undertaken on this project.
